Battery does not last long enough.

Smoke Sensor is a FLiRs device, this means that the gateway can communicate to this device and wake it up at any time to take in configurations and commands. Make sure to disable Wakeup Interval and Polling to ensure that gateway polling this device does not use battery life needlessly.


Any time Z-Wave reports or requests are communicated by Smoke Detector, this will lower battery life.


Do not use rechargable batteries, make sure that batteries used are lithium batteries.


If you do choose to poll this device, make sure that you use a separate power supply to power the Z-Wave board. This will also allow this device to act as a repeater in your Z-Wave network.



Known hardware issues.

In an older hardware version of Smoke Sensor, there was a series of top boards using 1.2V. These have caused 10 year batteries to be discharged early. If this is the case that you see, make sure to replace the Smoke Sensor.


Boards using 1.5V do not have this issue.


Known software issues (Firmware V1.1 only).

If you have a sensor using firmware version V1.1, the device ID is incorrect which causes issues with device recognition/compatibility in various Z-Wave gateways/controllers/hubs.

Make sure to update your Smoke Sensor to V1.14 through: https://ota.zwave.eu


Devices not recognized by the system after an update must be manually reset and then re-included to allow the gateway to update the sensor with the correct information.
