This guide describes, how you can use the Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor as a Garage Door Sensor.


  1. Connect the Multipurpose Sensor to your SmartThings Hub. See the guide for connecting it here. 
  2. Choose the Multipurpose Sensor in your SmartThings App. 
  3. Open the settings of the Multipurpose Sensor. 




  4. Change the setting "Use on garage door" to "Yes". Tap "Ok" after the changed setting. 




  5. Now you can install the Multipurpose Sensor on your Garage Door. 
  6. It will detect a 90° tilt of your Garage door and show it as open when the garage door is in the horizontal position.
