Install Edge-driver


How to install Edge Drivers:

  1. Click on the invitational link to access the drivers.  
  2. Sign into your SmartThings/Samsung account.
  3. Click on "Join"
  4. Give it about a minute for your account and hub to gain access, and then refresh the page.
  5. Click on "Install" on any Edge drivers you'd like to install.

How to use the custom Edge Driver:

  • If your device is already using an edge driver, you can follow these steps:
    1. Open SmartThings app
    2. Open the Z-Wave device page (for example Smart Switch 7)
    3. Click on "Driver" option
    4. Click "Change Driver"
    5. You can now change the driver to a compatible custom driver here. 
  • An alternative method is to unpair and re-pair your device. Upon re-pair your Z-Wave device should automatically use the custom driver. 


How to change a devices Edge Driver (SmartThings Advanced Web App):

  1. Using any web browser (ie. Chrome, Firefox, etc), login to: my.smartthings.com
  2. Tap the 3 dot icon (top right corner)
  3. Select Advanced User
  4. Click on "Devices" on the left toolbar:
  5. Then select the device you want to change the edge driver of under "DEVICE LABEL":
  6. Find the section labeled "Driver" with a dropdown box under it, and click on the dropdown box to expose all compatible drivers you can change it to.
  7. Selecting a driver will immediately change the driver that specific device uses.



Updating Edge Drivers on the Smart Home Hub


Drivers that you install through our platform are not automatically updated on your Smart Home Hub, you have to do it manually.


  1.  All devices using the driver must be switched to another driver. 
    1. The best way to do this is to install:
    2. Open SmartThings-App 
    3. Open the page of the device (e.g. Smart Switch 7)
    4. Click on the Driver option.
    5. Click Change Driver.
    6. Here you can now select the appropriate driver
      • Z-Wave: Device Config Mc
      • Zigbee: Zigbee Thing Mc
    7. Now tap Use this driver
    8. Confirm with OK
  2. Now open the invitation link, of the device driver and update it. 
    1. Click on the invitation link to go to the drivers.
    2. Sign in to your SmartThings/Samsung account.
    3. Click Available Drivers
    4. Select your driver and then click Uninstall
    5. After that click again on Install
  3. Finally, as in step 1, the devices must be reassigned to the updated driver.
