SmartThings cannot create virtual modules out of the box. With this solution, we will show you how to create and use virtual modules.


Virtual devices can help in automation to store states and use them in other automations.

Install Virtual Things Edge Driver 


  1. Login SmartThings Advanced Web App
  2. Open the following link:
    https://api.smartthings.com/invitation-web/accept?id=6b68563b-1905-4654-8d2b-e677a2997424
  3. Select your hub and press Enroll
  4. Press Available Drivers
  5. Choose Aplicaciones Virtuales Mc  and press Install


Add Virtual Things Driver in SmartThings App


  1. Open your SmartThings App
  2. Go to devices
  3. Tap + in the upper left corner
  4. Choose Add device
  5. Tap on Scan nearby
  6. This will create “Main virtual devices"
  7. Go back to devices


Creating a virtual device


  1. Tap MAIN Virtual Devices
  2. Tap the gear next to Total Devices
  3. Select a virtual device type




    Select a device type and it will be generated directly.
    • Virtual Mirro Switch, enables random on and off switching. 
    • Virtal Calendar, extends the functionality in routines.
    • Timer Number of Days, extends the timer function.
    • Switchboard 2 - Swichboard 5 create virtual devices with multiple switches, which can also be set to on/off together.
    • TextField, allows creating a device with 5 text fields. These can be described by routines and used as triggers.
    • NumberField, allows creating a device with 5 number fields. These can be described via routines and used as triggers.
       

Delete Virtual device


  1. Tap on your Virtual device
  2. Tap on 3 points in the upper right corner
  3. Tap Edit
  4. Tap Remove device
