Join to Network

  1. Open the casing of the device by pressing the button and removing the lid.
  2.  The Electricity Meter Interface is equipped with an optical probe that is easily attached to your meter. Insert the end of the probe into the indicated socket on the Electricity Meter Interface
  3. Remove the battery pull tap.

  4. Make sure that the Zigbee network on your hub is open for joining devices and will accept the Electricity Meter Interface.

  5. While the Electricity Meter Interface is searching for a Zigbee network to join, the LED flashes yellow.

Placement

  • Place the EMI indoors at a temperature between 0-50°C.
  • The EMI must be placed close to your electricity meter.

Installation

  • To mount the EMI first clean the desired surface before mounting.
  • The EMI can be mounted either directly to the wall next to the meter, or if the meter is enclosed in a metal box, on the box itself, using the double stick tape, already applied on the back of the EMI. Press firmly to secure the device.

The Electricity Meter Interface (EMI) 2 P1 requires no special assembly and is powered by the electricity meter. It is already equipped with a RJ12 cable which is easily attached.

  • Insert the end of the cable into the P1 port on the electric meter. Make sure the P1 port is enabled on your meter. Consult your meter’s manual for the exact location of the port.
When the EMI is correctly connected to your meter, the LED on the EMI will light up green. Note that it can take up to 30 seconds before it lights up. If the LED is blinking red instead, it can mean that the EMI is not compatible with your meter. See the section ‘Fault finding’.

Reset the Device

Resetting is needed if you want to reconnect your Electricity Meter Interface or if you need to perform a factory reset to remove abnormal behaviour

  1. Open the casing of the device.
  2. Press and hold the menu button until the LED flashes numerous times in a row, and then release the button again.
  3. After a successful reset, the yellow LED will start flashing, which indicates network search.

Fault finding & cleaning

  • If the electricity meter interface (EMI) does not send correct meter data, confirm that the connector is inserted correctly to the meter.
  • If you still don’t get any data, contact your electricity provider, and assure that the P1 interface is enabled at your meter.
  • If the EMI cannot communicate with your meter, the LED on the EMI will flash red. This means the Electricity Meter Interface 2, P1 is most likely not compatible with your meter or that the P1 interface is not enabled at your meter.
  • In case of a weak or a bad signal, change the location of the electricity meter interface or strengthen the signal with a Zigbee-based range extender.
  • If the search for a hub has timed out, a short press on the button will restart it.
